"Bi i do chrann ar an mhuintir dar diobh thu" a deirtear thiar i Ros a' MhIl i gConamara ait ar togadh Beairtle b . Flatharta cois na farraige i dtus a oige. Chomhlion se an dualgas sin ce gur .i gceartlar na Nile a chaith se a shaol gearr. D'aistrigh an chlann g Cill Mhichriadog i gCondae Chill Dara sna caogaidi ach ma d'aistrigh thug siad a nduchas saibhir fein aniar leo agus dhiol si ad an cornhar leis an bpobal nua. Sholathraigh siad ceol, amhranaiocht, fi]iocht, agus an leann Gaolach in aon chomhluadar inar casadh jad_ Nior cheil siad a ngra don Ghaeilge riamh agus bhi meas orthu da reir. Is doiligh a chreidbheail go bhfuil bliain imithe 0 glaodh Beairtle 6 Flatharta uainn agus e i mblath a oige . Ba tubaisteach an bhris i a bhas anabai da bhean Maire agus da n-octar clainne agus ba bhronach an dream muide a chairde ina dhiaidh_ Ba liosta le haireamh iad lion na gceoltoiri a sheinn ag a shochraid la a adhlachta i Ros a' MhIl. Bhi ainm Bheairtle cloiste agam go mion minic, i bfhad sular casadh orm e. Ba ghearr tar eis dom teacht chun conaithe go Leim an Bhradain gur cuireadh ar an eolas me go raibh Gaeltacht bheo i bhfoisceacht mile diom agus go gcaithfinn aithne a chur ar Bheairtle agus a chlann agus a gcomharsana_ Niorbh fhada gur casadh ar a cheile muid nuair a thosaigh an feachtas chun Cumann Gaelach a bhunu dhiaidh sin. Ceoltoir cumasach ab ea e ar an gcairdin agus ar an bpiob uilleann_ Bhi guth cinn alainn aige agus chuireadh se aoibhneas ar shlua i gconai le binneas a shean-nois fhein: chuile fhocal den amhran le cloisteail go soileir * BEAIRTLE 0 FLATHARTA uaidh agus an bhri agus an mothu a dtabhairt amach go cruinn aige. Cuir leis sin an ornaidiocht chliste ba dual do thraidisiun amhranaichta Chonamara agus tuigfidh tu an t-omos a bhi ag pobal an cheantair seo do Bheairtle b Flatharta. Nuair a thainig an raidio aitiuil go Uim an Bhradain bhailigh se fein agus Maire na comharsana go leir chun clar a dheanamh do agus b'ionadh lena lan ar fud na tire spiorad Chill Mhichriadog agus neart na Gaeilge i measc an phobail ann nuair a craoladh an clar sin ar Raidio na Gaeltachta ar ball. . AN APPRECIATION

The sudden and untimely death occurred some time ago of a good friend and long time member of Comhaltas the late Beairtle b Flatharta , R.I.P. Beairtle who lived at Cillmhiereadog near Maynooth was a member of the Leixlip Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann since its foundation in 1980. Beairtle will be long remembered by his many friends as a kind and good man devoted to his family and who displayed and exemplified in his life and his dealings with others the virtues and attributes of a true Christian gentleman. Beairtle originally hailed from Connemara and came with his family while still a young boy to live in Co. Kildare. It is there among his own people in the little churchyard at Ros a MhIl that he now lies buried. He possessed a most pleasing and versatile personality, ever helpful and dependable and always obliging on all occasions . He carried out all the duties and responsibilities associated with membership of his Branch with the utmost competence and in his own cheerful and unassuming way. He was blessed with many gifts and talents not the least being his ability to sing many of the beautiful old Irish songs as Gaeilge in the sean-nos style. Also his proficiency on the button accordian ensured that he was in great demand and he played continually at sessions and competitions, particularly for dancers of all age groups. His first language was, of course, Irish - his native tongue - which he spoke with a fluency and bias unsurpassed. Beairtle was taken from us at the comparatively early age of 48. We extend our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to his wife Mary and family and pray that God will support and comfort them in their great sorrow. As a small token of our appreciation and to perpetuate his memory. Amongst his friends the Leixlip Branch of which he was an esteemed and well loved member will henceforth be known as Craobh Bheairtle Ui Fhlatharta , Leim an Bhradain. Our prayer is that he may have a bed amongst the Saints of Ireland. - Roddy Spain
